Inspiration on Third at Camp

I may have to repost this with new photographs of this house on Fourth. I'm not sure if these actually do it justice. There is a time in the afternoon when I pass by this house and it stops me dead in my tracks. The sun hits the pink plaster and the house literally glows. It's quite a sight. I think I did a pretty good job capturing the colors and the light from that moment. That is, if I do say so myself...

  1. I really, really, really love your painting. I agree that you did capture the subtleties of the house colors. I wouldn't mind seeing more photos of the house though, because right now it is your painting that seems to be glowing from within. I can imagine that the house must do the same, but can't see it here. In any case, it's a great structure and I can see why it inspired you.

  2. Thank you so much--I keep trying to get that afternoon glow that I have seen so many times. It keeps raining every afternoon (which is actually quite nice) I'm so glad that you liked the painting. It's quite large 7' x 4'!

  4. 7' x 4'!!! Wish I could see it in person. To spend time in front of a canvas that large, when it's full of colors and shapes that touch you, is a beautiful feeling.

  6. This is one of my favorite houses in New Orleans! I used to be good friends with a girl who lived on Third Street by Magazine, and we'd walk there from school (we went to McGehee). Whenever I passed this house, I would stop and stare. It's like a giant, beautiful dollhouse. I LOVE the painting that goes with it, too! Let me know if you ever make a little version that I could keep in my dorm... :)
